EU Firms Seeking Major Stake in LNG Project
Three European companies expressed interest in purchasing an 80 percent stake of Iran's liquefied natural gas (LNG) production project which is worth $4 billion.

Ali Kheirandish, Head of Iran's LNG Company, made the remarks on Saturday without revealing the names of the European companies.

Referring to the remaining 20-percent stake, he told MNA that it is completely owned by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

The construction of Iran LNG plant began in 2007 at Tombak Port, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) north of Assalouyeh Port in the southern province of Hormozgan. The plant is expected to become operational in 2011
