Iran's Ambassador to Baku Mohammad Baqer Bahrami told reporters that the issue will be discussed during a visit by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to Iran, due to take place a few days after the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Bahrami added that Iranian Oil Minister Masoud Mir Kazzemi will travel to Azerbaijan following the visit by the Azeri foreign minister.
Azerbaijan-Iran trade turnover totaled $700 million in 2009 while the figure stood at $670 million in 2008.
Azerbaijan is developing its giant Shah Deniz field, with gas reserves of 1.2 trillion cubic meters in cooperation with seven companies, including British Petroleum, Norway's Statoil, France's Total and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.
Elsewhere, the Iranian ambassador pointed to the two countries' relations, saying, "Azerbaijan and Iran possess great potential to advance relations in all spheres and an extra impetus is needed for this. The world stands on the threshold of change and this necessitates further consolidation of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan."
The Iranian ambassador further noted that the future and security of Azerbaijan are connected with Iran's future and security.
