Hosseini: "we want the Economic Convergence of ECO MemberCountries"
According to the Public Relations Department of the Organization for Investment, Economic & Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI), Dr. Seyyed Shams al-Din Hosseini considered to the conference of the economic officials of ECO member states in Tehran as a good chance to exchange experiences and convergences of countries specially in economic and trade affairs that can be utilized to alleviate the impacts of the global financial crisis.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Organization for Investment, Economic & Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI), Dr. Seyyed Shams al-Din Hosseini considered to the conference of the economic officials of ECO member states in Tehran as a good chance to exchange experiences and convergences of countries specially in economic and trade affairs that can be utilized to alleviate the impacts of the global financial crisis.
Referring to the final 21-article statement of the conference, Mr. Hosseini said: "considering the sluggish pace of the global financial recovery, the participants emphasized the necessity of being vigilant and enhancing cooperation and convergence amongst the members."
He hailed the agreement to make the most of ECO banking, insurance and investments capacities as one of the greatest achievements of the meeting and added: "the idea of establishing a joint investment fund was also received well by members".
The Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance made mention of the initiative to hold a special roundtable to discuss the ways to enhance interactions between the private sectors of the countries in Tehran meeting and said: "in the meeting, there was consensus regarding the necessity of increasing our interactions through our private sectors. We also talked about the ways to facilitate this and we achieved to good agreements as well".
Referring to the fact that all the ECO members are all Islamic countries, he said: "it was decided that the ECO Secretariat would seriously pursue the utilization of Islamic financial capacities and tools".
He went on to say: "all the members agree that Islamic financial tools are like capacities that can be used to meet our needs and be effective in preventing crises from happening".
The Minister of Economy called the agreement and envisaging of the ways to use Islamic Development Bank as well as the efforts to enforce coordinated policies in international conferences another accomplishment for the Tehran Conference.
