Iran's Electricity Exports Reached 5.5 billion kWh
The Islamic Republic of Iran has exported 5.5 billion kWh of electricity to its neighboring countries during the last Iranian year (March 21, 2009-March 20, 2010), the IRI Energy Ministry reported.
The exports have increased 180 percent over the previous year (2008-2009), the report added.
Iran's electricity grid is connected to most neighboring countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Armenia and Azerbaijan for power exchange.
Making links between the grids of Iran and United Arab Emirates has been under negotiation, as well.
Russia and India have recently announced interest to exchange electricity with Iran.
