Iran Ready to Export Electricity to Syria, Lebanon
Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Ali Nikzad, announced readiness of his country to export electricity to Syria and Lebanon urging for trilateral economic ties between Iran, Iraq and Syria, as well
The remarks were made during the 9th session of Iran-Syria Economic Cooperation Follow-up Committee Meeting launched yesterday in Damascus.
Addressing the meeting, Nikzad said the meeting is aimed at expansion of ties with Syria despite the hostility and aversion of the common enemy of the two countries, the USA and Israel.
He referred to the free trade agreement signed between the two countries saying that the agreement will result in expansion of trade and economic ties between Iran and Syria.
Nikzad said Iran is ready to share its technologies and related know-how in various fields with Syria.
He urged for further expansion of cooperation in transportation, tourism, housing and energy sectors.
According to him Iran, Syrian and Iraq could develop unprecedented trilateral ties in various economic sectors.
Once railway ties are made between Iran, Iraq and Syria, they could annually transit 2 million tons of various goods.
Nikzad also said Iran is ready to export electricity to Syria and Lebanon, as well.
The annual trade between Iran and Syria stands at $500 million currently. Moreover, Iran annually exports $1.7 billion of its technical and engineering services to Syria.
The two sides have agreed to boost their annual trade to $5 billion in near future.
